Lynn and Maude White Fellowship

The Lynn and Maude White Fellowship Award is not offered for 2007-08.

Every other year, the UCLA Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies awards the Lynn and Maude White fellowship to an outstanding UCLA graduate student in the field of Medieval and Renaissance Studies who has advanced to Ph.D. candidacy. Established in 1988 and named for its donors, the Center's founding director Lynn White, and his wife, Maude, the fellowship provides a $15,000 stipend to support dissertation research.

Competition is open to to UCLA doctoral candidates in academic departments or interdisciplinary programs associated with CMRS. The recipient will receive the fellowship in two installments (July and January) and will be expected to engage in full-time dissertation research and writing during the following year.

Application Procedure

    Students interested in applying for the fellowship must submit:
  • a cover letter applying for The Lynn and Maude White Fellowship;
  • a curriculum vitae (CV);
  • a five-page research proposal outlining the applicant’s project;
  • a letter from the applicant’s dissertation advisor;
  • three additional letters of recommendation from faculty or scholars familiar with the applicant’s work.
