Summer Fellowship

The UCLA Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies offers fellowships to scholars holding a Ph.D. (or the equivalent) who wish to visit UCLA during the summer of 2007 to pursue research in the field of Medieval and Renaissance Studies.

    The fellowship includes:
  • $500 which may be used for travel expenses;
  • temporary membership in the Center;
  • attendant campus privileges such as UCLA Library and Special Collections access.

The time spent in Los Angeles is at the discretion of the award recipient, but the fellowship must be used between mid-June and the end of September 2008.

Scholars who wish to access research collections at the Getty Center, the Getty Research Institute, or the Huntington Library in San Marino must contact those facilities in advance to apply for reader privileges. Affiliates of the UCLA CMRS are not automatically granted access to those collections.

Application Procedure

    To apply for a Summer Fellowship, please send:
  • a curriculum vitae (CV);
  • a 200-word description of the proposed summer project;
  • a letter of recommendation.

Because the award is intended especially for those who need resources offered only by UCLA or local research facilities, the description should indicate how the project would benefit from a visit to Los Angeles.

Send the application materials to:
