Interdisciplinary Research Grants

The UCLA Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies offers small grants (normally not more than $2,000) to interdisciplinary teams of two or more UCLA faculty members and/or graduate students to pursue collaborative projects in Medieval and Renaissance Studies. These grants can be used for any legitimate research-related need (travel, microfilm, books, equipment, etc.) as well as to bring scholars to UCLA to participate in formal and informal programs and to collaborate on research projects. Applicant teams may include faculty and/or graduate students but must represent more than one department. Projects must be interdisciplinary in focus and conceptualization.

CMRS Interdisciplinary Research Grants can be used in conjunction with research support from other sources and are not intended to replace Senate research grants or instructional resources grants.

Application Procedure

    The applicant team must submit:
  • a one-page description of the research project, including the names and departments of faculty and/or graduate students who will be participating in the project;
  • a brief budget specifying how the requested funds will be used.
